James Corden's final Carpool Karaoke for the Late Late Show features an emotional Adele who teared up as she spoke about her divorce and how much the British actor and his wife had supported her.

Corden is leaving his role as host of the late-night chat show and Adele surprised him by turning up at his house and giving him a lift to work.

As she pulls out of his drive she confesses to not being a very good driver, and later on, Corden tells her not to get so close to the car in front.

The pair belted out some of the singer's biggest hits, including Love is a Game, I Drink Wine and Hometown Glory. But it is when she started talking about her divorce from Simon Konecki she got teary-eyed.

"It was like the first year that I felt like I had to hold myself accountable for just being an adult," she said.

"Whereas the year before, I left Simon and stuff like that. But you and Jules and the kids were so integral in looking after me and Angelo and I remember you used to do it with humour as well.

"You'd be like, 'Good luck with that one,' with anything I was pursuing. You were always like an adult to me, you and Julia, and you'd always give me advice."

Adele and Konecki split in 2019 and have a son Angelo.

Corden hosted the Late Late Show for eight years and introduced Carpool Karaoke as a regular segment.

A host of singing stars have ridden in the car singing their biggest hits, including Madonna, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder.

It was Adele's second turn and the pair also got emotional when Corden said he would miss her when he moves back to the UK.

"I love you and we have had the best times here. Our friendship and our families' friendship, it has nothing to do with distance," Corden said.

Adele said she would miss her friend as well. "You're my best friend in the whole world I'm going to miss you so much."
