AM host Laura Tupou plays flugelhorn for King Charles, warns it's 'going to be terrible'

AM Host Laura Tupou has serenaded King Charles III ahead of his coronation this weekend.

As Friday's show wrapped up, Tupou revealed she'd mentioned she'd played the flugelhorn once in a meeting.

She then said an Auckland music store had sent the show the horn so she could play the UK national anthem.

"It's been 21 years since I mentioned I played," she said before launching into a rendition of 'God Save The King.'

"This is going to be terrible," she said, before adding: "Enjoy everyone, because I won't be."

Despite a false start, Tupou said; "I'm not saving the king with this performance," before co-host Ryan Bridge chipped in with "Save yourself."

"I can't save myself, I'm drowning," Tupou joked.
