A woman in the United States who threw a hot burrito bowl at a Chipotle store worker could soon experience what it's like being in her shoes.
Rosemary Hayne was upset there wasn't enough protein in her meal and brutally slammed it into store manager Emily Russell's face.
The AM Show hosts Ryan Bridge and Melissa Chan-Green shared sympathy for the worker on Thursday morning, whose face was burnt as a result.
Hayne went into the Chipotle store in Parma, Ohio and ordered a plain chicken burrito bowl on November 29.
Unhappy with the order, she then yelled at the worker before throwing the hot meal into her face, leaving the contents over her hair, face, and shirt.
Hayne was later found guilty of one count of assault. "You didn't get the burrito bowl the way you want it, so this is how you respond?" Judge Timothy Gilligan exclaimed.
"If I showed you how my food looked, and how my food looked a week later from that same restaurant, it's disgusting looking," Hayne responded.
"I bet you won't be happy with the food you are going to get in the jail," the judge retorted.
The judge initially ordered Hayne to pay a fine and do 180 days of jail term.
"This is probably why they don't have crime in Ohio," AM host Ryan Bridge said.
"Yeah, that's quite a steep consequence," co-host Melissa Chan-Green agreed.
"In New Zealand, you'd probably get a food voucher for doing that," Bridge laughed.
However, Hayne has now been given the opportunity by the judge to cut her sentence by 60 days if she agrees to pick up shifts at a fast-food restaurant.
"It's one of those interesting things where maybe it would be helpful to have punishments that sort of fit a crime," Bridge said.
"I think that once you work in a fast-food service area like what she was in when she threw the burrito bowl, she probably would have a bit more appreciation for the people that work there," Chan-Green said. "I think it's a great idea".
"Yeah, maybe she'd be more into eating the burrito bowl rather than throwing it around the restaurant," Bridge laughed.
