Auckland bar Ding Dong Lounge targeted by thieves who stole 17 Jim Beam bottles signed by rock 'n' roll legends

Jim Beam bottles signed by some of rock 'n' roll's biggest stars have been stolen in broad daylight from a famed Auckland bar and venue.

Ding Dong Lounge in the city's downtown has been visited by the likes of Green Day and Yungblud, all of whom have taken time to sign bottles of bourbon which have become part of the venue's history.

However, the venue shared over the weekend that the lounge was broken into, with a collection of Jim Beam bottles, each signed by various artists, stolen from the premises.

"The bottles held sentimental value to us and the artists who graciously contributed their signatures. We are reaching out to our wonderful community for assistance in locating these stolen treasures," the bar posted to its social media.

However, the thieves had specifically targeted some of the cabinets as others were left untouched.

"It's memories for us the staff, former and current, and all the customers. It's shared memories with their favourite artists - people that got them through some of the hardest time in our lives.

"Our idols come in and spend precious time with us... yeah, it means the world," Petrovic tearfully said.

The bar has issued a simple plea to the thieves: "If you are a fan and you want them at home as your own personal collection, don't be selfish. Those memories are shared with everyone else."
