Britney Spears says reports she had to have paramedics called out to the hotel where she was staying with her boyfriend following a "major fight" are "fake".

On Friday morning (NZT), it was revealed police and paramedics had been called to the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on Wednesday night (US time) where Spears was staying with boyfriend Paul Soliz.

They had been called after claims the pair had had a "major fight" and the 'Toxic' singer was injured in the fracas. There were also claims from US gossip website TMZ that a woman matching Spears' description was seen shouting and abusing hotel guests and employees, prompting a police call out.

However, on Thursday (US time) Spears posted on her verified Instagram that the reports were not true.

"Just to let people know ….. the news is fake !!! I would like respect at this time for people to understand I am getting stronger everyday! Truth sucks so can someone teach me how to lie ???"

She also claimed she had twisted her ankle and paramedics had showed up at her hotel door "illegally", saying: "They never came in my room but I felt completely harassed. I'm moving to Boston!!!"

She also said in her post that she needed a "new toothbrush" and an "espresso".

Pictures on TMZ showed a woman looking like Spears wrapped in a hotel blanket, holding pillows being escorted by authorities.

Neither police nor paramedics have commented further on the reports.
