An Auckland woman searching for the handsome mystery man she met on her flight has found the charming stranger.

The woman and her sister boarded the Air New Zealand flight NZ0441 from Auckland to Wellington on Monday, where they met the "tall, handsome, dark-haired" man.

The woman's sister contacted NZME in the hopes of finding the man again, saying he was an engineer and flying home to see his mum on the Kapiti Coast for Christmas.

After he was contacted by Air New Zealand, the "dapperly dressed" stranger responded to the woman's search and has agreed to a date with the woman.

He told NZME he has not decided on a cafe or restaurant to have the date and they might wander until they find a place to eat.

The man, who remains unnamed, said he really enjoyed meeting the two sisters.

"They seemed sweet and caring."

He particularly enjoyed meeting the woman (passenger 17B) who was pretty, blonde, fun to chat to and had a great personality, he told NZME.

The pair's encounter appears to be even more of a twist of fate as the man lives in Ponsonby, Auckland, an area where the woman used to live.

The woman's sister said her sibling was "usually very picky", so for her to be interested in the man in seat 17C was a rare occurrence - a Christmas miracle if you will.

She has also hit back at social media users who believe her sister is a stalker and the stranger should run for the hills.

"It's not like she wants to marry him or anything - it wasn't meant to be like that.

"It was more like, he's a really nice guy and they both live in the same area in Auckland and it would be cool to go for a drink," she told NZME.
