A UK mother-of-two who was addicted to drugs for years has shared her incredible physical transformation after managing to stay clean for four months.

Scottish woman Demi-Nicole Dunlop says she spent two years hooked on heroin and cocaine, which left her gaunt and covered in scabs.

But now the university student says she hopes to inspire other addicts to seek recovery.

Sharing incredible before-and-after photos on Facebook, Dunlop wrote she's "entirely clean" after detoxing from the habit which saw her using every day.

"It took me a very long time to feel I'm worthy, I've done well and feel proud of how far I've come," she wrote.

"I had a large scale habit and I thought there was never gonna be a light at the end of the tunnel."

In the emotional Facebook post, Dunlop made clear the recovery "wasn't a walk in the park and it most certainly has been far from pleasant".

"But please be reassured by me, that you can and you will become free of that dark black hole of addiction," she added.

"If you're reading this and you're in mid-addiction and you're feeling you will never get out of that dark, scary, black, horrible daily cycle of addiction, that black hole, then you can."

Now engaged, Dunlop is currently receiving hospital treatment as part of her continuing recovery.

Her photos have wowed the internet, with one post racking up over 18,000 likes.

"Fantastic and best of luck for your and your family's future," one person commented.

"You are the strongest and you've got this," praised anther

"This is amazing, you look like a different person," wrote a third.

It's not the first time a drug recovery transformation has gone viral. Last year a recovering meth and heroin addict who resorted to stealing and sex work to fund her habit shared her inspiring two-year transformation.
