Normally reaching orgasm is the goal when having sex, but it was the downfall of one African man who sadly lost his life after suffering an "extreme orgasm".

The 35-year-old man named Charles Majawa lost consciousness while engaging with a sex worker in the district of Phalombe, Malawi in August last year.

According to The Sun, a recent postmortem report listed the cause of death as "excessive orgasm which caused blood vessels in the brain to rupture."

After the man's body was taken back to his home village, local newspapers reported the man" died of too much sexual excitement and sweetness."

According to police, no charges will be laid over Majawa's death and that the sex worker would not be held liable.

While this instance of death is unusual, reports out of the US in 2016 do reveal that for older males, too much sex could be detrimental to cardiovascular health.

However another study last year revealed regular sex is linked to lower odds of dying from cancer, heart disease and other illnesses, as a regular session is akin to "moderate-intensity" exercise and has similar health benefits.
