There's no doubt that the kitchen gadget du jour in 2020 was the air fryer with clever cooks worldwide sharing their recipes online.

But another kitchen gadget might just take the cake in 2021 - recipes using a department store's pie maker are flooding the internet.

Many online home cooks have shown how they made arancini balls, muffins and rocky road pastries with their pie makers - and now one Aussie mum has wowed by showing how she uses it to get perfectly runny eggs, every time.

Jenny took to Facebook group Kmart Pie Maker Recipes, Tips and Ideas Australia, claiming: "There's really no other way to cook them!"

"Cook for five minutes for soft [eggs] or seven minutes for hard."

She included a photo of the delicious looking eggs, adding that for softer eggs, it's worth leaving the lid of the machine up while cooking.

The Kmart pie maker is currently listed on the store's Aotearoa site for NZ$29 - about the price of one bought brunch out with a couple of coffees.

Commenters praised the hack, with one woman writing she tried cooking the eggs in the pie maker herself for the first time and was "very pleased" with the end result.

"[The] eggs were perfect, I just love this machine," she said.
