Woman in tears after noticing glaring mistake on her CV

Applying for a new job can be stressful at the best of times and in the wake of widespread job losses amid the COVID-19 pandemic, many will be frantically applying to anything and everything available.

That means you might not be giving your CV the eagle-eyed treatment it requires - which is certainly the case of one US jobseeker who didn't double-check her resume before sending it off to a potential employer.

Marissa, a student teacher, posted a video on TikTok showing how she used a basic internet template to create her CV - but forgot to change one vital detail.

"You think you're having a bad day? I just sent this resume without changing the template picture," she wrote.

Marissa - a white woman with long brown hair - then zooms in on the template picture which shows a black man wearing a doctor's coat and stethoscope.

The video has been viewed more than 4 million times, with commenters in hysterics over the accidental body switch.

One person suggested Marissa write: "Sorry, that's an old picture of me."

"It's the fact he is dressed like a doctor and your resume says student teacher that is sending me to MARS," wrote another commenter.

"Tell them that 2020 really changed you," a third joked.

If you're looking for a way to stand out on your CV - but in a less embarrassing way than Marissa - maybe a video-based CV is the way to go.
