Recipe: Instant noodle omelette (Dadar Mie Instan)

Dadar Mie Instan is a creative dish made from instant noodles and served with eggs, sliced ​​scallions, cheese and corned beef.

This dish is popular in Indonesia as a light snack, but the instant noodle omelette can be served as an excellent side dish as well.

Ingredients

Serves 2-4

  • 1 pack instant noodles, chicken flavour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 scallion, thinly sliced
  • 200ml water, to boil the noodles
  • 150g corned beef
  • 50g cheese
  • Cooking oil for frying.

For the dipping sauce:

  • Tomato sauce
  • Chilli sauce.

Directions

1. Start cooking

  • Boil 200ml of water in a saucepan then cook the noodles for three minutes. When cooked, drain and set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix the noodles, beaten eggs, sliced ​​scallion, corned beef and cheese.
  • In a non-stick pan, heat up the oil. When the oil is hot, pour the omelette mixture into the pan and spread it evenly. Cook the omelette over low heat for two minutes or until the bottom is browned.
  • Flip the noodle omelette and cook the other side until brown. Turn off the fire and set aside.

2. Arrange and serve

  • Cut the omelette according to preference and place it on a serving plate.
  • Serve with dipping sauce.

Chef's tips

  • Avoid overcooking the noodles so they aren't too pulpy.
  • Sausages, tofu or meatballs can be added.
