Pet's struggling with sweltering temperatures during the summer months can now wear a fan designed by a Tokyo clothing maker.

The nifty wearable device includes a small and light battery-operated fan that is attached to a mesh outfit, blowing cool air around the back of the animal's body.

It's a new venture for Rei Uzawa, president of the maternity clothing marker Sweet Mommy. She wanted to end the 'ruff' times her chihuahua was enduring every time it went out for a walk in super hot temperatures.

"There was almost no rainy season this year [in Japan], so the hot days came early, and in that sense, I think we developed a product that is right for the market."

The device hit the shelves early last month and Sweet Mommy has received around 100 orders for the pet product.

Sky News reports the product comes in five different sizes and is priced at NZD$116.23.
