The Warehouse, where everyone gets a... pair of phallic slippers?
A pair of the plush footwear, sold by the local retailer, has emerged on social media to widespread hilarity, with a woman capturing the flamingo-style slippers at a rather questionable angle.
Sharing a photo of the 'H&H Women's Flamingo Novelty Slippers' to the popular Facebook group Kmart & The Warehouse Hacks & Decor NZ on Wednesday, the woman called the shape of the slip-ons into question, captioning the pic: "The Warehouse have some cool flamingo slippers at the moment" - followed by the crying-laughing emoji.
The snap shows the fluffy slippers - which feature plush flamingos on the front of the shoes, accompanied by wings on the side - hanging up on display, causing the neck of the bird to flop forward. With the head out of sight, the drooping neck more resembles a part of human anatomy.
The photo has prompted widespread hilarity, amassing almost 4000 likes and more than 1000 comments at the time of writing.
"Flamingo - is that what the young people are calling it these days?" one woman joked.
"Those flamingos look happy to see you," another quipped, with a third adding: "OMG my daughter got these - now I'm never gonna look at them the same."
It appears the fluffy footwear may have got the short end of the stick however, with several people who own the slip-ons noting that off the hanger, they do in fact resemble a pink bird - rather than a penis.
One proud owner even shared a snap of the slippers in action, proving that in-person, they do exactly what they say on the tin.
Unfortunately for her, the unflattering pic had her admitting: "I'll never look at them the same way."
"My daughter has these and they look like flamingos front on," another corroborated.
Unconvinced, another declared: "Looks like a willy with wings."
According to The Warehouse, the 'H&H Women's Flamingo Novelty Slippers' are $20 and come in sizes Small to Extra Large.
