A recall is underway for a batch of Pams carrots due to the possible presence of E. coli.

The product affected is the 300g Carrot Batons with a use-by date of 20/01/2023. This is being removed from shelves at New World, PAK'nSAVE and Four Square stores nationwide.

E. coli was discovered as a result of routine testing. New Zealand Food Safety (NZFS) said it hasn't been notified of associated illness.

If you have any of the affected product, it should not be eaten. Instead it can be returned to where you bought it from for a refund. Should you be unable to do this, throw it out.

If you have consumed any of this product and are concerned for your health, contact your health professional, or call Healthline on 0800 611 116.

NZFS said it was working with Foodstuffs' Own Brands to support the recall and understand how the contamination occurred and prevent it from happening again.
