The meal section of the Popeyes New Zealand menu has been revealed ahead of the US fast food chain's local opening on April 29.
Kiwi fried chicken fans can feast their eyes on the family bucket meals, box meals and snack & kids meals to see how they compare to what is offered by rivals like KFC and Texas Chicken.
Items in the sneak peek include Popeyes signature Louisiana style fried chicken pieces, tenders and wings, mashed potato with Cajun gravy, mac and cheese, fries, and drinks, of which Coke and Keri are displayed.

While the New Zealand prices for these standard meals haven't been disclosed, the company said opening week deals include $9.50 for the Popeyes Party Meal (two pieces of signature chicken, regular mash & Cajun gravy, regular Cajun fries and a drink), as well as $4.90 for the Spicy Wings Snack (two spicy wings and a small fries).
That appears to be significantly cheaper than what is being sold in US stores.
Using the American Popeyes website on Thursday, a two piece Classic Signature Chicken Combo - the equivalent of a Popeyes Party Meal to be sold in Aotearoa - would cost US$11.99 if picked up from the North Hollywood outlet on Laurel Canyon Blvd. That is around NZ$20 - more than double the asking price of a Popeyes Party Meal in Auckland on opening week.
The full NZ menu will also include 'sandwiches' (burgers) and other items.
In the US, Popeyes has a seafood selection of fish burgers and deep-fried shrimp, more sides including coleslaw, red beans with rice, chicken nuggets, and a dessert selection including strawberry biscuits, cinnamon apple pie and strawberry cheesecake cup.
The first Popeyes NZ store to open will be located at 106 Great South Road in Auckland's Takanini, with doors opening at 10am on Monday, April 29.
Prizes like vouchers and T-shirts will be given away on that morning.
Popeyes was founded in New Orleans in 1972 and has grown to over 4300 outlets around the world. The company said it plans to open 10 stores across Aotearoa this year.
The Popeyes brand is owned by Restaurant Brands International, a giant multinational company that also owns Burger King.
