Lotto Powerball has jackpotted to a massive $28 million on Saturday - and Kiwis are being urged to get their tickets in time.
Retailers are expecting customers to pour in for tickets on Saturday afternoon and early evening before the cut-off time of 7:30pm, so beat the queues by dropping into a store before the last-minute crowds arrive.
Tickets are also available on the MyLotto site, with sales also closing at 7:30pm.
Since Powerball and Strike both rolled over last Wednesday, there is a combined prize pool of $29.4 million up for grabs on Saturday night - including $1 million for Lotto First Division and $400,000 for Strike Four.
If the Powerball is won tonight by a single person, it will be the 5th largest Powerball prize in New Zealand history.
In January, someone who won an incredible $17.1 million finally came forward to collect their cash.
Their ticket was purchased from the Market Store in the small Canterbury town of Twizel on December 28, 2019.
"I wasn't in a rush to claim the prize - and I needed some time to process things," the unnamed winner said.
"It's all been very surreal."
