Lotto: Whakatāne player wins $8.3 million, two other punters claim $333,000 – where winning tickets were sold

A Whakatāne Lotto player got an early Christmas present after winning $8.3 million with Powerball First Division on Saturday night. 

The winning ticket was sold at Halfway Store in Whakatāne. The prize is made up of $8 million from Powerball First Division and $333,333 from Lotto First Division. 

The winning numbers were 13, 16, 31, 33, 35 and 37. The bonus ball was 19 and powerball was 9. 

Saturday night's winner was the seventeenth Powerball multi-millionaire of 2023, and the win comes just weeks after a Hamilton couple won an $8.3 million Powerball prize. The couple are looking forward to helping their family with their win.  

Two other lucky Lotto players will also be celebrating after winning $333,333 with First Division. The winning tickets were sold at Ngaio Supermarket in Wellington and Fresh Choice Ngaruawahia in Waikato. 

Strike Four has rolled over on Saturday and will be $500,000 on Wednesday night. 

Meanwhile, 14 players will be in for a treat after each winning $19,470 with Lotto Second Division on Saturday night.  

Two lucky players also won Powerball Second Division, taking their total winnings to $28,219.  

The winning Powerball Second Division tickets were sold at Southmall Lotto Kiosk in Auckland and at Kamo Lotto in Whangārei. The winning Second Division tickets were sold at stores in Auckland, Whangārei, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Wellington, Thorndon, Lower Hutt and Waihi.

"Anyone who bought their ticket from any of the above stores should check their ticket as soon as possible in-store, on MyLotto, or through the MyLotto App," a Lotto spokesperson said.
