Fletcher Building (FBU) could soon be searching for a new chief executive, according to an announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.
The company's half year results are set to be revealed on Wednesday and the announcement to the ASX said Ross Taylor could consider resigning at the same time.
It is "possible" the chief executive will "consider his position" with the company, the statement said.
"FBU requests a trading halt to apply immediately so that the board meeting and board sub-committee meeting can consider the relevant matters and for all matters arising from those meetings... as well as the potential earnings forecast, can be released to the market with its half-year results."
Analysts told BusinessDesk the potential resignation could be a sign of things to come for Fletcher.
The company last week shocked the market by revealing unexpected cost increases of about $180 million.
These increases were to cover potential losses on two major projects: the New Zealand International Convention Centre and the Wellington Airport car park.
