A car has hit a cyclist on a main Auckland road, disrupting rush-hour traffic.

Police and St John ambulance staff rushed to the scene on Auckland's Tamaki Drive around 7:30am on Thursday.

The cyclist suffered only minor injuries.

It comes after a horror night on the roads, with four people dying in three separate crashes.
