Two Nelson thieves have been captured demonstrating an ingenious way of avoiding detection from the passing public.
CCTV footage follows two audacious individuals as they head for furniture and crafts store Woodrocks Nelson.
The two can then be seen carrying what appears to be a bench table.
But instead of running and hiding when a car comes, the two simply place the bench on the ground and casually sit on it.
While many locals expressed their dismay at the pair on Facebook, others were able to see the funny side.
"I'm sorry, but when they put the seat down and sit on it. That's the funniest thing I've ever seen," a person said on the Nelson Snippets Facebook page.
"Are these lovely pieces of wooden furniture not chained down? And a risk (sic) leaving them outside anyway" another said.
"The ole sit down at the bus stop trick...... funny as!!!!.... sorry for the owners though."
A version of the footage has been uploaded to YouTube with the Benny Hill theme Yakety Sax.
Hill was known for his brand of slapstick comedy which one commenter said the CCTV footage closely ressembles.
