Police hunting for a man and woman who kidnapped and robbed an elderly man have released CCTV images of the pair.

They took the 87-year-old's bank card to an ATM on Tomoana Rd at the Mahora shops in Hastings on Saturday, 28 July, at 4pm.

Police say the woman was described as Māori, in her 40s or possibly older, of solid build. She wore a black hoodie, black shorts and light blue/grey leggings.

The man was described as late teens or early 20s, with short hair.

"We are aware that several people used the same ATM that afternoon and may have noticed this individual inserting the card several times, said Det Sgt Craig Vining. "We would ask that these members of the public make contact with police, as they may have information that will assist the investigation."

Police believe the offenders are familiar with the area, and probably local.

Call police on (06) 831 0700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you have any information.
