Eden Park management says major international acts have opted to skip Auckland due to rules governing the park.

Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Eminem and Phil Collins have all avoided the city due to the park being unable to host them, the park's management told RNZ.

Bon Jovi is instead only headed to Australia, Eminem will play Westpac Stadium in Wellington and Phil Collins is going to Napier and Christchurch.

Billy Joel has not toured outside the United States or Europe in 2018, and doesn't have any plans to listed on his website.

Eden Park trust board chief executive Nick Sautner told RNZ the strict rules for Eden Park had caused problems.

"I'd be encouraging both Government and council to work with Eden Park to enable, for the next 10 years, those events to come to Auckland," Mr Sautner said.

But Eden Park may not be able to host any events if the Waterfront Consortium builds a new venue on Bledisloe Wharf.

If the consortium gets its way, Eden Park would be bowled in favour of residential housing.
