Police arrest man in relation to gang member Luke Riddell's death

A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the death of King Cobra gang member Luke Riddell.

The man appeared via video-link in the Christchurch District Court on Wednesday charged with unlawfully being in possession of a sawn-off shotgun and shotgun cartridges.

He was also charged with unlawfully possessing a shotgun. The man has been remanded in custody until October 25.

The body of Mr Riddell, a King Cobra member, was found at Charing Cross, outside of Christchurch at 3.30pm on Saturday. 

Armed police swarmed a property on Gilberthorpes Rd, Hornby on Tuesday evening, in relation to the homicide investigation.  A scene examination is still underway at the address. 

Police are also examining a property on Telegraph Rd. Officers are guarding the scene. 

A third scene examination at Grange Rd, where Mr Riddell's body was found, is now complete. 

The road will be reopened shortly, police say.
