An Auckland construction worker has been critically injured after steel reportedly being lifted by a crane fell on him.
The workplace incident happened on Victoria St West in Auckland Central on Saturday afternoon, with emergency services notified on the accident at 1:55pm.

The man, who has been taken to Auckland hospital, was reportedly hit when a pallet of steel came apart as it was being lifted by a crane, according to NZME.
The man is said to be conscious.
A witness told NZME it was the third incident recently at the worksite, where a 47-room hotel is being developed.
Police say Worksafe NZ has been notified.
