The pair are in a serious but stable condition.

Emergency services were called to the Shotover Jet building at 1pm on Tuesday, after a tree fell on a group of people.

Three rescue helicopters were sent to the scene, and firefighters worked to free the people trapped under the tree.

The mother and son were flown to Dunedin Hospital.

The two other people who were under the tree were taken to the nearby Lakes District Hospital, but have now been moved to Dunedin Hospital.
