A four-year-old boy has been found dead in Brydone, Southland.
Police were alerted a child was missing on Wednesday afternoon.
The boy was found in a body of water at the back of the property, police say.
Emergency services attempted to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful.
The boy's death has been referred to the Coroner.
