A rare and beautiful video of a blood orange sun has been captured on dusk as the Tasman fire continued to burn on Thursday night.
Newshub cameramen Jabulani Ndebele and Ross Wearing both snapped the moment on Thursday evening.
The vision shows a deep orange/red coloured sun setting over the area as the large inferno rages on.

It is thought smoke in the atmosphere affects the wavelengths of light making the sun appear red in colour.
If the air is clearer, there are shorter wavelengths and you you see the sun as it is in a clear blue sky.
