33yo man faces four charges after Christchurch police shootout

A 33-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a shootout on a Christchurch street in February.

He is being charged with failing to stop, assault with a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, and using a firearm against a law enforcement officer.

On February 26, the man was involved in a shootout with police. After failing to stop and attempting to flee, his car was road-spiked by police.

He left his vehicle and allegedly discharged a firearm towards officers. He was then shot in the lower body by police.

The charges against him will be heard in Christchurch District Court on Monday afternoon.

No further comment will be heard from police, as the matter is now before the court.
