The body of a male tramper has been recovered from Mt Lancelot near Arthur's Pass.

Police confirmed the man was found on Sunday at 3:35pm after an extensive search by rescue teams.

Two other trampers he was with raised the alarm on Saturday evening after he'd become separated from them.
