An Auckland police officer has appeared in court charged with careless driving while on the job.
The 49-year-old male officer was charged following a review of an incident where he crashed while "undertaking urgent duty", according to a police statement.

The crash occurred on Ngahue Dr, a main road in the Auckland suburb of St Johns.
Despite the court appearance, the officer remains on active duty.
