Christchurch road rampage: Man allegedly drove into 19 cars

A Christchurch man is in police custody after allegedly crashing into a whopping 19 cars.

James Malone, a 47-year-old labourer, was arrested and charged with intentional damage and operating a vehicle with sustained loss of traction.

He appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Monday, but has been remanded without plea, reports Courtnews. 

His trail of chaos spanned from Stanmore St to Bishop Street.

A police spokesperson confirmed they received a report of a man crashing into a vehicle on Bishop Street at 12.30am on Friday.

Officers then discovered the man had allegedly slammed into 18 other cars. 

Malone will reappear next month.
