Nabbed fugitives to appear in court

A man will appear in Invercargill District Court on Saturday over a pursuit which saw police cars rammed and two Glock pistols stolen.

The 24-year-old was arrested in Gore on Friday, two days the incident unfolded.

One of the police pistols has been recovered, along with ammunition - but the other is yet to be found.

The man is facing several charges, including unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, reckless driving and theft.

And another man will appear in Christchurch District Court over the death of a pedestrian in New Brighton last week.

Liam Strickland, 21, was caught by the armed offenders squad on Friday, two weeks after the alleged hit-and-run.

Dean Amies was killed when a stolen van struck him. The investigation into the death continues.
