A Hawke's Bay man has remarkably escaped serious injury after he accidentally walked in front of a moving van at the weekend.
Dan McIntyre posted dramatic CCTV footage of the incident to his Facebook page showing the moment the van hit him. It happened on Saturday in Waipukurau - about 50km southwest of Hastings.
Somehow, McIntyre says he only ended up with a sore leg and some grazes.
"Didn't see this one coming," he wrote on Facebook. "I've taken a few good hits in footy over the years but this was something else!"
Miraculously, McIntyre is already back at work.
"[My] leg's still pretty sore from the initial hit and [have a] few grazes but besides that I'm doing really well," he told Newshub.
In his Facebook post, he thanked everyone who helped him following the incident.
He added it was "100 percent" his fault.
