Residents in Hawke's Bay might hear loud sirens and see a large police presence in the area on Friday.

There's no need to be alarmed though - it's all part of a police training exercise.

Police and emergency services will be practising their response to an aircraft crash-landing.

The routine training exercise will take place at the Hawke's Bay Airport in Napier.

An increased police presence will be in the area between 1pm and 9pm on Friday.

The drill will continue on Saturday, between 8am and 4pm.

Residents are being reassured if they hear or see anything alarming there's no cause for concern.
