A Gloriavale teacher who sexually assaulted a nine-year-old girl can now be named as Just Standfast.
The 68-year-old member of the South Island religious community indecently touched and kissed the child in 2012. He also exposed himself in her presence during a playtime break.
He pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual conduct with a child under 12 years old in November last year and was sentenced to six months community detention and two years of intense supervision.
Standfast has been appealing to keep his name secret, but he lost identity protection on Thursday when the Court of Appeal ruled against him.
He wasn't jailed due to his age and physical limitations.
