A woman in her sixties has drowned in the Far North after a boat she was on capsized off Houhora Harbour.

Police say they were called to the incident about 11:15am on Friday.

She was one of three people on board the craft. Police say the other two received minor injuries.

The woman's next of kin have been notified and the death will be referred to the Coroner.

It's the fourth drowning of the holiday season, after one drowning in the Coromandel on Thursday and two in Northland earlier this week.
