More than a dozen people have been arrested in Napier following several disorder incidents overnight.
Police say there were reports of various groups fighting among a large gathering of youths in the Marine Parade area, and the disorder continued as officers dispersed the group.
At least 10 youths were arrested, while six others were later taken into custody for disorderly behavior and assault.
One local said on Facebook page Napier News there were "150 young intoxicated teens crowding the place".
"Fully destroyed it, I've never seen anything so disgusting and messy! No respect at all," they wrote, adding that it was "the most exciting thing I've witnessed on a Saturday night".
No serious injuries were reported.
Napier is currently celebrating its annual Art Deco Festival.
