Police have again pleaded with the public for help locating convicted murderer Katrina Epiha, who escaped from Corrections staff at Middlemore Hospital last week.

It's now been more than three and a half days since the 22-year-old was last seen fleeing on foot towards Gray Ave in Mangere in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police have been working closely with Corrections since she was reported missing, and have carried out a "significant number" of enquiries in efforts to find her.

They also searched a number of properties over the weekend, but to no avail.

Epiha was sentenced to life imprisonment last year after stabbing a Christchurch mother to death at a party in 2017.

Police say anyone helping Epiha evade arrest are putting themselves at risk of being prosecuted.

And they've issued a renewed plea for the public's help.

"Police want to hear from anyone who has seen Katrina Epiha or has any information on her whereabouts. Any information received will be treated in strict confidence," they said.

Epiha has large distinctive tattoos on both sides of her face that appear to read "real-lizm".

Police describe her as a dangerous individual. Anyone who sees her is advised not to approach, and to instead call 111 immediately.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Counties Manukau Police on (09) 261 1321, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
