COVID-19: No new cases of coronavirus in New Zealand's managed isolation facilities

There are no new cases of COVID-19 in the community or New Zealand's managed isolation facilities, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday.

As a result, the total number of confirmed cases remains at 1515, which is the number reported to the World Health Organization.

There are still 45 active cases of the virus, all of which were imported and detected in managed isolation and quarantine facilities. As of Monday, there have been no additional recoveries.

None of the active cases are currently in hospital with COVID-19.

Laboratories processed 2026 tests on Sunday, bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 1,002,790.

It follows Auckland's first weekend under alert level 1 since the latest cluster emerged in August. The Super City joined the rest of New Zealand at level 1 on Thursday, shaking off weeks of stringent lockdown restrictions, yet business owners in the CBD have expressed concern that customer levels failed to rise.

The last community case of COVID-19 was recorded on September 25.

The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that New Zealand had achieved a significant milestone in its battle against the virus, reaching - and surpassing - the one-millionth test mark.

In a statement, Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield praised New Zealanders for their ongoing cooperation in getting tested for COVID-19.

"The milestone of a million tests reflects a sustained team effort," Dr Bloomfield said. "I want to recognise everyone who has been tested to date, and the skilled workforce carrying out this testing.

"Each one of those tests has contributed to our knowledge about the virus and its prevalence in New Zealand. To everyone who has been part of the process, I want to acknowledge and thank you for your contribution. You have made a difference.

"Testing will continue to be a cornerstone of our collective response to COVID-19."
