Police are attempting to piece together the final movements of a woman who died in Christchurch, and are asking the public for help doing so.

The woman was found dead on Sunday morning and so far her death is unexplained.

She was of slim build with blonde dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a hooded dressing gown, white and blue paisley trousers and black and white shoes.

Police say it's possible she was carrying a Globe-brand longboard but they have not been able to find the board and want to hear from anyone who may have picked it up.

It's described as a metre long, with a dip in the middle of it.

Anyone who was near the Cattlestop Crag climbing rock area on Sunday, or saw the woman walking through the Mt Pleasant, Lyttleton or Summit Rd area overnight on Sunday is asked to call police on 107.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
