Woman charged with murder over Kiwi firefighter Ian Pullen's death in Australia

A second person has been arrested and charged with murder over the death of 43-year-old Kiwi Ian Pullen in Australia two years ago.

The 30-year-old woman's arrest on Monday comes after a 29-year-old man was last week charged with murdering Pullen.

According to New South Wales police, just after 5:30am on September 29, 2018, emergency services rushed to Carrington St, Glenridding - a settlement in the state's Hunter region - where a man's body was located on the side of the road.

He was later identified as Pullen, a firefighter who had arrived in the region to help with bushfire efforts.

Over the last two years, Strike Force Awabakil has been investigating the circumstances of the Kiwi's death, leading to the 29-year-old man's arrest on Wednesday.

Police announced on Tuesday that after further inquiries, authorities attended a property in the nearby town of Singleton on Monday morning to arrest a woman.

It will be alleged in court that the man was driving a white Toyota Hilux utility when Pullen was struck. The vehicle left the scene, but a short time later, it's alleged that it returned, with the man and woman exiting the utility and "striking Mr Pullen in the head with an object".

The woman was on Tuesday refused bail to appear at Muswellbrook Local Court.
