A homicide investigation has been launched by police after two people were found dead in Hāwera on Monday morning.
One person was arrested at the scene without incident and is assisting officers with their investigations, Area Commander Inspector Belinda Dewar said in a statement.
The bodies were located by emergency services at around 2:50am at a property in the Taranaki town.
Authorities are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
A scene guard is in place and a scene examination will continue this morning.
