An investigation has been launched after two people died in a Northland crash on Monday night.
A police spokesperson confirmed the three-vehicle crash happened on State Highway 1 in Moerewa about 9:45pm.
"Two occupants of the same vehicle have tragically passed away at the scene. Three others were moderately injured," the spokesperson said.
The serious crash unit is now investigating the nature of the crash. Police said they will release the names of the victims once they talk to their families.
"Our deepest thoughts and sympathies are with them and their whānau at this extremely difficult time."
