94yo adrenaline junkie gran ticks supercar hot lap off thrill-seeking bucket list

A sprightly 94-year-old continues to tick off her adrenaline-filled bucket list - this time hitting 204km/h in a supercar doing a hot lap.

Lois Edwards has done a thrill-seeking activity yearly since she turned 90 years old. So far, she's been in a hot air balloon, completed the Sky Tower's SkyWalk, and been in helicopters.

"You can't go through life without doing something exciting," she tells The Project.

"I just enjoy life. Might as well make the most of it while I can."

Granddaughter Louisa Kuypers says Edwards can't be stopped with her life-on-the-edge birthday activities.

"She's such a go-getter, she puts her mind to something and it's happening. There's no two ways about it."

For birthday number 94, Edwards is joining supercar racing champion Tom Alexander for a hot lap in one of the fastest track cars on earth, the Radical SR3SX. The hot lap was organised by Helen Vlasich, the village manager at Bupa Glenburn Village where Edwards lives.

Edwards has never been in a fast car but says she wants to feel the g-force.

"It's the pressure of going, you know, zooming around. That's why I want to do it," Edwards says.

"I've got this far. If anything happens, well, I've had a wonderful time."

With her support crew in tow, Edwards is tied up and zipped into all the gear, then she's off on her ride with Alexander.

After a speedy lap where they clocked 204km/h, Edwards relished in her "wonderful", thrill-seeking experience.

"I went with the driver, with the car [going] this way and that way - my body went with it. It was very fast," she says.

Granddaughter Josie Kuypers says Edwards loved the experience,

"Speed freak nana, super gran," she says.
