Police are giving an update on the fatal shooting in Hamilton and the critical incident which unfolded in the Auckland suburb of Penrose on Thursday.
Witnesses have told Newshub the incident in Penrose involved an individual who stole car keys from a business, and then tried to run employees over as he attempted to leave with the car. It's then understood the car crashed and there was a shooting.
This comes after a shoot-out in Hamilton's Hillcrest on Wednesday night.
A man, who was killed in the incident, had fired gunshots at police officers who had visited a property on O'Donoghue St.
Assistant Commissioner Richard Chambers will give an update on both situations from the Auckland Central Police Station.
