There are significant delays for motorists heading into Auckland city after a crash on the Harbour Bridge.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency confirmed a crash blocked the southbound lane around 1:15pm on Saturday afternoon.

Around 2pm a tow truck arrived on site to remove the vehicles involved.

Motorists heading into the city are now being told to expect "significant delays".

"Please delay your journey or consider an alternative route," NZTA said.

This comes after a car broke down in the left northbound lane on the Harbour Bridge on Saturday morning.
