Memorial held in South Africa for three sisters killed in Timaru

Close friends and family have turned out in South Africa's Pretoria to honour three sisters killed in their Timaru home earlier this month.

The memorial for sisters Liane, 6, and 2-year-old twins Maya and Karla came after a vigil held on Friday outside the Timaru address where they died.

Graham Dickason, his wife Lauren and the three young girls moved to Timaru earlier this month after leaving South Africa and spending time in managed isolation.

The girls were found dead at the Timaru property just days after leaving MIQ and Lauren has been accused of murdering them.

Mostly close family and some members of the community have since gathered in Pretoria to honour the three children, Lauren's brother Graham Fawkes told the NZ Herald.

A tribute was set up by a pond with flowers and pictures of the three girls, according to photos supplied to the newspaper.

Fawkes told the Herald the family "love them and we will always love them".

At the Timaru vigil last week, Graham Dickason thanked the community for its support and love.

"My words are few at the moment,'' he said in a message read by Reverend Alan Cummins. "On Thursday the 16th of September 2021 my life and Lauren's were turned upside down when our three precious angels were ripped away from us.

"It is a loss that I will carry with me for the rest of my life."

Lauren, who's next due to appear in court next Tuesday, has been remanded to a secure facility at Hillmorton Hospital in Christchurch.

A fundraiser to support children's family has passed $27,000.
