Former All Black Zac Guildford has admitted breaching his intensive supervision.

Guildford made a brief appearance in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday, where he pleaded guilty to the breach.

Guildford had earlier been charged with the breach for consuming alcohol in February. The breach related to the two years' intensive supervision sentence he was given in January for punching a woman in the face in 2019.

A special condition of his sentence specified Guildford was "not to possess or consume alcohol".

According to a summary of facts, Corrections was told police officers had attended an incident at Guildford's house on February 20 and that he was intoxicated.

Guildford was convicted and discharged.

Speaking to the media after his appearance, Guildford said he had not touched alcohol since the breach.

"I won't go back to my old ways - even though I've told you guys that numerous times," he said.

"I'm really confident that this is behind me."
