Lotto urges Kiwis to check tickets after Powerball player wins $9 million

A Hamilton Lotto player will wake up to a life-changing amount of money after winning $9 million in Powerball First Division on Saturday.

Lotto is urging players to check their tickets on Sunday after the winning ticket was sold at Four Square Matangi in Hamilton.

The $9m prize is made up of $8m from Powerball First Division and $1m from Lotto First Division.

Meanwhile, two lucky Strike players from Porirua and Masterton will also be celebrating after each winning $100,000 with Strike Four.

The winning Strike Four tickets were sold at New World Whitby in Porirua and Copper Kettle in Masterton.

"Anyone who bought their ticket at any of the above stores should check their ticket as soon as possible in-store, online at mylotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ App," Lotto said.

"Players can phone Lotto NZ on 0800 695 6886 if they want to enquire about the best way to claim a prize."

This is the seventh time Powerball has been struck this year, after a lucky New Plymouth mum won $5.3m from a ticket slipped into her Mother's Day card earlier this month.
