A shocking video shared on social media showing a man punching a dog in the face is being investigated by the SPCA.
Shared on Instagram, the video shows the man punching the dog while exclaiming, "I'm f**king sick of him and his f**king vet bills".
The alleged abuser was named on social media, but Newshub's attempts to reach him have so far been unsuccessful.
An SPCA spokeswoman said it had been sent the video and an investigation is underway.
"SPCA was distressed to see the content of this video and does not condone the harming of vulnerable animals in any way," she told Newshub.
The spokeswoman said the SPCA couldn't comment further as it was investigating.
"This incident has already been lodged with us by several people through the necessary channels and an investigation is currently underway."
